The meeting was co-chaired by the Assistant to the Minister in the Sector for Financial Planning and Coordination of the International Economic Aid Ms Dusanka Basta and the United Nations Resident Coordinator in Bosnia and Herzegovina Ms Ingrid Macdonald.
At todays’ DCF meeting, the Overview of the United Nations and Bosnia and Herzegovina Partnership - 2021-2025 United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF) was presented. This document defines the partnership between BiH and the UN as well as the strategic priorities and results. The UNSDCF is aligned with the priorities of BiH defined in the Framework of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in BiH, which represents an overarching document for addressing the development challenges, defining a common vision and broader development pathways in the country, along with domesticated targets and indicators of SDG goals.
In the period 2021 – 2025, UNSDCF activities are taking place within 4 priorities: Sustainable, resilient and inclusive growth, Quality, accessible and inclusive education, health, social protection, People-centered governance and the Rule of Law, and Social cohesion (in the total value of USD 336,080,480).
It is anticipated that in the period 2023-2025, within 4 priority areas and programs, UNSDCF Horizon plans to implement 166 activities in a total value of USD 172,905,503.
The meeting was also attended by Deputy Minister of Finance and Treasury of BiH, Muhamed Hasanovic as well as the Heads of UN agencies, UNDP, UNICEF, UNESCO, and IOM, the formal members of the Joint Steering Committee between Bosnia and Herzegovina and UN, who briefly presented one flagship, joint UN initiative from each of the 4 presented strategic priority areas of the UNSDCF Framework.
At the Tour de table, development partners and representatives of international organizations and financial institutions in BiH as well as domestic institutions were invited to share the information on the new and planned projects, exchange the opinions on their current and future activities, positive experiences as well as challenges they are facing.
